Odoo version 18 centralizes Payroll apps into the payroll functionality, and the employee's management feature for a smoother approach to performing payroll functions. The Payroll Working Schedules gives the opportunity to define various work hours, shifts and break periods to the employees regarding labor law requirements and internal polices of an organization.
This change means you no longer need to access employee records directly through the Employee module to configure working hours. All the settings are now managed within the Payroll module, making it more intuitive for businesses with complex payroll structures
Importance of configuring the working time are the following:
Step-by-Step Guide to Configuring Working Time
Step 1: Access the Working Schedule Configuration
To configure working time, navigate to the Payroll app → Configuration → Working Schedules.
From here, you can create new working schedules by clicking Create or edit existing ones. These schedules define the hours, days, and breaks for employees.
Step 2: Creating and Modifying Working Schedules
When setting up a schedule, specify the following:
Working Hours: Define the start and end time of each workday.
Breaks: Allocate break times during the workday.
Workdays: Assign specific workdays (e.g., Monday through Friday).
This customization can be done for different employee roles, such as full-time, part-time, or flexible hours, giving businesses the flexibility to cater to a variety of work patterns.
Step 3: Assigning Working Schedules to Employees.
After creating the working schedules, navigate to the Employee Contracts and assign the appropriate schedule to each employee.
The working schedule assigned to an employee will determine their official working hours, which will be used for attendance tracking and payroll calculations.
Advanced Features of Working Time Configuration
1. Shifts and Roles Integration with Planning
Odoo 18 allows integration with the Planning module. This means that shifts can be automatically assigned based on employee roles and working schedules, reducing manual effort and ensuring that shifts align with available resources
2. Part-Time and Flexible Hours
Odoo 18 also permits the configuration of part-time working hours. With the configuration of the working schedule, businesses can calculate work entries of part-time employees on an accurate basis based on a percentage of full-time hours.
